About the Role
SLR Consulting Limited is a global leader in environmental and advisory solutions, supporting clients to achieve their sustainability goals. Our Mining Group has experienced continued commercial success worldwide and is expanding its team in the European Region. We are seeking a Principal Engineer with substantial experience in tailings and mine waste to join our growing team.

As a Principal Engineer in the Mine Waste Team, you will manage your own projects and support others in delivering mine waste projects led by other technical disciplines. You will work alongside highly skilled professionals in a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver complex projects.

Your responsibilities will include leading the design of tailings and waste rock facilities from conceptual through detailed design and construction phases, acting as Engineer of Record or Deputy with the ambition to progress to Engineer of Record. You will identify opportunities to develop new business and enhance technical skills, contributing to the growth and capability of the team.

Collaboration with Mine Waste Engineering teams globally will be key to delivering projects and developing new business. You will also develop your networking skills to build strong client relationships and elevate your reputation as a recognized leader in the sector.

Experience
- Significant depth of experience and specialisation in tailings and mine waste, preferably in a consulting environment
- Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary teams as lead designer and project manager on tailings and mine waste projects from concept to detailed design
- Experience acting as Engineer of Record, Designer of Record, or Deputy for tailings facilities
- Experience in independent auditing and dam safety reviews
- Good working knowledge of mining industry standards such as GISTM, ANCOLD, CDA, etc.
- Strong commercial and business development skills

Qualifications
- Honours degree in Civil or Mining Engineering, or MSc in a related subject
- Registered Chartered Engineer (or equivalent Professional Engineer status), or immediately eligible to register
