The Energy unit provides integrated engineering and project management services globally across hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation, and transmission & distribution networks. We support the energy transition by delivering innovative solutions from concept through to decommissioning or life extension.

In Germany, Mott MacDonald is expanding its permanent presence with projects including offshore hydrogen, hydrogen-ready thermal assets, BESS development, and wind farm transactions. This role is key to supporting ongoing and future projects focused on permitting, environmental assessment, and design of energy infrastructure.

Key duties include:
- Day-to-day project management and delivery focusing on emission control approval procedures and technical advice in air pollution control and noise protection
- Identification and processing of permits such as building, emissions, environmental, and water rights permits
- Preparation for and participation in application conferences
- Maintaining direct and regular contact with clients to update progress and respond to their needs
- Liaison with and management of engineering teams’ inputs
- Coordinating communication between planners, consultants, authorities, and the public

Experience
- Degree in environmental engineering or a similar field
- In-depth professional experience in environmental management of energy projects in Germany
- Strong knowledge of permitting and environmental assessment in Germany, including the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and relevant EU Directives
- Project management experience
- Experience managing sub-contractors
- Strong communication skills and customer focus
- Business fluent German and good English skills
- Willingness to travel

Qualifications
- Desirable: Experience or qualification in process engineering
- Specialist knowledge in air or noise pollution control or similar

- Knowledge of environmental and permitting requirements in other countries
- Experience developing and implementing work-winning strategies including client-facing roles
- Fluency in French or Spanish is an advantage
