About the Role
The UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. Egis is rapidly expanding its Water Business in the UK, building a high-performing multidisciplinary team offering services including Flood Risk, Civil Engineering, Nature-based Solutions, and Hydraulic Modelling. As Principal Wastewater Modeller, you will take a lead role in developing wastewater modelling services primarily for water companies, supporting asset investment decisions through optioneering and detailed design phases. This is a unique opportunity to shape and expand Egis’ wastewater modelling capability in the UK, leveraging global infrastructure expertise and a strong commitment to sustainable water solutions.
Key responsibilities include leading the development of Infoworks ICM network modelling expertise, promoting best practice and innovation, championing sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) alongside traditional engineering solutions, mentoring colleagues, collaborating with teams across the UK, Ireland and France, providing expert technical advice, managing projects, supporting business development, and representing Egis at industry events. You will contribute to delivering climate-responsible infrastructure that meets community, industry, and environmental needs.
Experience
- Extensive experience developing, verifying, calibrating, and reviewing Infoworks ICM models for wastewater and urban drainage networks
- Good understanding of hydrological assessment and analysis methods (e.g. FEH, ReFH)
- Experience or interest in developing digital tools to improve hydraulic modelling efficiency, including scripting/automation (e.g. Python, Ruby)
- Knowledge of other hydraulic modelling packages such as Tuflow, Mike, Flood Modeller Pro is beneficial
- Experience in flood risk modelling, assessment, and mapping is advantageous
- Demonstrable client, contractor, or consultancy experience within the UK Water Sector
- Knowledge of regulator requirements (e.g. Environment Agency) and technical standards

Qualifications
- BSc/Eng or MSc/Eng in Civil, Water, or Environmental Engineering disciplines
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Obtained or near to obtaining professional qualification with CIWEM or similar
- Right to work in the UK is required
