About the Role
The UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. Egis is rapidly expanding its Water Business in the UK and is building a high-performing Process Engineering team to shape this next chapter. As a Senior Principal Process Engineer, you will provide senior technical leadership within the UK water/wastewater treatment design team, contributing to major municipal and industrial programmes. Working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, you will deliver technically robust, sustainable, and innovative treatment solutions on nationally significant projects. This role offers a rare opportunity to join at a pivotal stage of Egis’ UK growth journey, helping to establish and expand process engineering capabilities grounded in global infrastructure expertise and long-term sector commitment.

Key responsibilities include leading process discipline on complex projects through design, construction support, commissioning and handover; setting and maintaining process design standards; assuring process deliverables and multidisciplinary interfaces; driving integrated coordination across teams; leading senior client engagement and technical workshops; embedding modern delivery approaches such as process simulation and digital tools; supporting project management functions; building and developing the process sub-team; and supporting business planning, work winning, and client development.

- Typically 10–12+ years’ relevant process design experience in water, wastewater and/or biosolids/sludge treatment design.
- Proven track record leading process design and technical assurance on complex multidisciplinary water/wastewater treatment projects.
- Deep expertise in treatment process design, process selection, mass balance, process capacity, PFDs, P&IDs, design basis development, and commissioning/performance testing.
- Strong practical experience with process modelling/simulation packages such as BioWin, SUMO, Dynamizu or equivalents.
- Strong understanding of UK regulated water sector drivers, water company standards, CDM 2015, process safety, environmental/regulatory requirements, and common delivery models.
- Demonstrable experience in people development including mentoring, line management, technical coaching, recruitment, or resource planning.
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills with credibility to lead senior technical conversations and influence project direction.
- Strong commercial and delivery awareness including scope development, fee estimating, programme/resource planning, risk management, and change control.

About you
You are a technically confident and collaborative leader passionate about sustainable water infrastructure. You thrive in a fast-growing, agile environment and are motivated to shape innovative solutions that address climate challenges and community resilience. You have excellent communication skills, enjoy mentoring and developing teams, and possess a strong commercial mindset. You are committed to continuous professional development and embrace digital and data-led approaches to process engineering.

Qualifications
- BEng/MEng or equivalent in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional institution such as IChemE.
- Experience as process discipline lead, design manager, technical director, associate-level lead or sub-team lead is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of advanced process simulation, dynamic modelling, scenario testing, optimisation studies, and operational troubleshooting is advantageous.
- Experience in digital treatment design, process optimisation, operational intelligence, nutrient removal, sludge/bioresources, water reuse, energy/carbon reduction or smart assets is beneficial.
- Experience leading process technical governance, communities of practice, design standards, QA frameworks or delivery improvement initiatives is a plus.
- Experience building teams during growth phases including skills mapping, capability planning and fostering a positive, delivery-focused culture.
