
Location
Hybrid basis at Clearwater Court, Reading. You will be required to work on-site and in the office 2-3 days a week, depending on business needs.
Hours
36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Salary
From £67,000 to £75,000 per annum*, depending on experience + £5,800 car allowance.
*SPM salaries start at £67k but the experience demanded of this role means you can expect to be paid between £70k and £75k with discretion to pay more for exceptional talent. There is provision for substantial salary growth as you establish your track record and develop your project management career with us.
About the Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will bring a structured approach, delivery experience and solid best practice to the Thames Valley team. You will manage a portfolio of complex and challenging multi-million-pound Wastewater Projects, leading and influencing others to deliver successful outcomes. You will be a dynamic and driving force contributing to Thames Water's Capital Delivery Program and supporting the Turnaround Plan.
You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle from promotion of the business need, through solution definition, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and completion. You will take overall accountability for project schedule, cost and quality, leading the project team to meet objectives.
Your role includes establishing a project health and safety culture, working collaboratively with external supply chains, driving contractor performance, preparing clear business cases, and ensuring effective liaison with authorities and stakeholders for smooth and timely delivery.
You will commercially manage all contract matters, ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle, and oversee smooth transition of project outputs into operational business. You will also lead people to build project delivery capability within the team, with flexibility to line manage or mentor others.

Experience
- Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering complex projects for a client organisation in the built environment within a regulated industry.
- Breadth of experience across the full project lifecycle including solution development, design oversight, early contractor engagement, procurement, governance, obtaining requisite consents, construction delivery and handover.
- Experience, aptitude and appetite for leading cross-functional project teams and influencing others.
- Demonstrable knowledge in the application of Health & Safety legislation to projects in the built environment, including Construction Design & Management Regulations.
- Demonstrable capability in planning and executing first-class stakeholder engagement across a range of internal and external organisations.
- Demonstrable capability in risk-based and analytical decision-making.
About you

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to build project delivery capability and mentor others.
Qualifications
- An engineering or other relevant degree.
- A business administration or project management qualification.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous experience in the Water industry.
- Chartered Project Professional status.
- Formal mentor role experience.
- Substantial experience in a similar senior project management role.
