About the Role
The Group Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Department at Costain is committed to ensuring safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible operations through the implementation of the Group SHE Management System and Group SHE Plan. This system provides a framework and standards to manage safety, health, and environmental risks and opportunities, aiming to prevent injury and ill health, provide a safe working environment, and protect and enhance the natural environment while balancing socio-economic requirements across all activities and operations.

The department’s purpose is to protect employees, the community, and the environment while ensuring sustainable operations and compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. As a Senior SHE Advisor, you will support Contract SHE functions by providing and enabling SHE solutions, assisting Contract and Operational Teams in implementing the Group SHE Management System, and building strong relationships with all stakeholders. You will provide an independent and objective view of SHE performance on the contract.

Key Responsibilities
- Support and influence Contract Leadership Team, Clients, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with the Group SHE Management System and Contract SHE performance
- Deliver and support training to enable contract teams to implement the Group SHE Management System effectively
- Coach and support Contract Operational and Supply Chain Contractors in delivering Contract SHE requirements
- Participate in ongoing assessment of Contracts’ Supply Chain Contractors where required
- Support delivery of annual Contract and Group SHE objectives
- Engage actively with the Contract SHE Assurance programme to ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements
- Support investigation of all unplanned events and close out assurance findings, ensuring lessons are shared per the Group SHE Management System
- Support timely reporting, analysis, and use of SHE data to influence the Contract Leadership Team and assist in developing data-driven improvement plans

Experience
- Essential: Relevant SHE experience
- Desirable: Significant SHE experience within relevant industries

Qualifications
- Essential: Technical IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Oil and Gas Certificate or IEMA Associate Qualification (Course) or equivalent
- Desirable: Cert IOSH or AIEMA or equivalent
- NEBOSH Occupational Safety Diploma or Environmental Diploma or equivalent
