Central London with hybrid home working available. Travel across England will be required, including to remote locations not accessible by public transport. A full and current UK driving licence is essential, and willingness to stay away from home is required. Flexible working proposals will be considered.

About the Role
As the Species Recovery Officer - Beaver Projects Coordinator, you will support the delivery of species recovery through conservation translocation projects across Forestry England’s districts and England-wide. Your role will cover all stages from planning and feasibility through to delivery and post-release monitoring. You will apply your expertise in nature recovery and project management to implement the strategic delivery of beaver reintroductions in collaboration with Forest District teams. Key responsibilities include advising on and developing project documentation such as project management plans, budgets, feasibility reports, risk assessments, and translocation plans. This role is funded by DEFRA and subject to government spending reviews. While long-term support for the Biodiversity Programme is expected, funding levels may vary annually. Forestry England is committed to retaining staff posts where possible and supporting employees through any changes.

Requirements

Experience
Proven experience in nature recovery, species conservation, or project management related to wildlife translocation or similar environmental projects.

About you
Organised and proactive with strong project management skills. Able to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams. Comfortable with travel to remote locations and flexible working arrangements. Holds a full and current UK driving licence and willing to stay away from home as required. Adaptable to changing funding environments and committed to species recovery goals.

Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent experience in ecology, conservation, environmental science, or related discipline is desirable but not mandatory.
