About the Role
As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of a vehicle maintenance workshop. Your role will ensure efficient production, quality control, and team management to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant services in line with the VMR standard and wider business requirements. You will manage the workshop team, developing their skills and ambition while ensuring all KPIs are met with a focus on quality and cost control. Working as part of the Fleet Services team, you will maintain a continuous improvement performance culture.
You will ensure operational targets are achieved regarding Risk and Assurance performance, asset availability, reliability, and costs, while effectively managing all operational and asset-related risks. Wearing the correct PPE and RPE for each task, you will report and address safety and environmental concerns, maintain high housekeeping standards, and have the authority to stop unsafe work.
Additional responsibilities include supporting line management with technical information for budget planning and CAPEX specification, taking responsibility for the workshop P&L, monitoring equipment performance, and setting plans to improve reliability. You will ensure equipment servicing and maintenance comply with statutory regulations such as LOLER and PUWER, assist with health and safety monitoring, conduct investigations on equipment failures, and recommend cost-effective recovery plans.
You will also support the team in maintenance planning, procurement of parts and equipment, manage work instructions and risk assessments, act as the primary point of contact for key customers, manage contractors on site including permit issuance, conduct regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and maintain high standards of quality to meet customer expectations.

Experience
Experienced vehicle maintenance technician with people management experience.
About You
Effective communicator with excellent time management skills and IT proficiency. Ability to lead and motivate a team while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Qualifications
Level 3 NVQ Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
LGV Category C or C+E Vocational Licence Holder
Desirable
Level 3 Leadership & Management or equivalent work experience
Irtec Technician Licence Holder
