About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark water engineering projects across the UK and overseas, contributing to the design and delivery of clean water process engineering solutions. As a Principal to Associate Director level Clean Water Process Engineer, you will join multidisciplinary project teams and take a lead role in process engineering design from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design for procurement and construction. Your responsibilities will include producing process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, and basis of design reports to achieve optimal project solutions. You will undertake outline or detailed process engineering design, attend site visits for data acquisition, and liaise with site operators. You will provide technical input to procurement processes, support Project Managers in client discussions, and engage with technology providers and vendors. Participation in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, and SWIFT reviews will be expected. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and supervision to junior staff and collaborate closely with other disciplines to ensure integration of process engineering requirements into overall project designs. You will also contribute to proposals, work scopes, schedules, budgets, and maintain client liaison to ensure their needs are met. Experience
- Significant experience delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects, including leading process engineering roles on projects or significant tasks
- Proven experience in the municipal water industry
- Ability to prepare and review process design deliverables such as technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, process control philosophies, P&IDs, mass balances, and procurement documentation
- Experience delivering optioneering studies, feasibility, concept, and detailed design for municipal clean water treatment solutions including Clarification (bottom hopper), DAF, Rapid Gravity Filtration, Disinfection, Taste & Odour/Pesticides Removal, and Chemical Dosing
- Previous consultancy or engineering company experience acting as a Process Engineer
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to prepare high-quality technical reports and deliver presentations to diverse audiences
- Confident and articulate communicator capable of engaging professionally with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary meetings and acting as a technical representative with external clients
- Ability to work accurately and flexibly, integrating work with other disciplines while managing own and team workloads within tight schedules and budgets
- Willingness and ability to travel to operational works and construction sites safely to assess process performance

Qualifications
- Degree or MSc in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- Professional registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership within 12 months
