About the Role
Are you ready to take the next step in your career and help deliver and grow a portfolio of high-profile projects addressing environmental and water resources challenges? Join WSP's Catchment Science team within the Sustainable Water Management Consulting group as a Senior or Principal Technical Lead focusing on WINEP water resources projects. You will work alongside multi-disciplinary experts including hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geomorphologists, and hydro-ecologists to deliver robust technical assessments and high-quality reporting.
This varied role includes providing technical expertise in WINEP investigations, ideally with hydro-ecology experience, leading day-to-day client and regulator engagement, supporting the development and delivery of WINEP project pipelines, generating high-quality bid proposals, and managing projects including financial and change control and quality assurance. You will promote a 'safety first' culture aligned with WSP's health and safety policies.
We encourage collaboration across disciplines, offering opportunities to work on wider projects such as water resources, hydrogeology, water quality, flood risk management, biodiversity net gain, and environmental impact assessment. There is flexibility to shape this role and seniority to suit the right candidate.
Your Team
Our Catchment Science team provides expert services across water resources and security, hydrology and hydraulics, water quality, hydro-ecology, and hydrogeology. We serve high-profile clients including government departments, water companies, and various industrial sectors. With growing demand forecasted for AMP8, we offer a dynamic and supportive environment for motivated professionals to fulfil their potential and contribute to impactful projects.
Experience
- Proven technical leadership and/or management of water resources WINEP investigations or similar projects
- Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust technical assessments
- Clear understanding of regulatory requirements, especially related to the Water Framework Directive
- Experience assessing impacts of abstraction on the water environment, ideally including hydro-ecology expertise
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Strong commercial awareness and experience in identifying business opportunities and preparing winning proposals
- Excellent report writing and technical review skills

You have excellent communication skills and the ability to apply your technical knowledge while leveraging collective expertise to solve complex challenges. You are motivated to contribute to a diverse range of projects and help expand technical capabilities within the team.
Qualifications
- MSc and/or BSc degree in a relevant discipline such as earth sciences, environmental science, geography, or aquatic ecology
- Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
