As a Commercial Manager (Senior Quantity Surveyor / Procurement Manager), you will lead the formation of effective category and commercial strategies, contract procurement, and commercial administration during project execution. Your role supports the safe delivery of value-for-money solutions aligned with our client’s programme, projects, and business objectives.
You will provide professional commercial support to programme and project teams by efficiently identifying, procuring, and administering contracts, managing costs, and controlling commercial risks and opportunities. You will manage significant client expenditure on works and services procurement and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Project Managers, Engineering, Marine, Estimating, Accounts teams, and the supply chain.
Key responsibilities include collaborative working, supporting programme and project business case development, leading commercial strategy development, supporting procurement and contract management processes, managing supplier and contractor relationships, administering contracts including payment applications, variations, disputes, and claims, producing high-quality tender documentation, implementing progress and cost management, managing commercial correspondence and contractual notices, leading contract reviews, identifying commercial risks and opportunities, maintaining contract files and cost records, and participating in periodic contract reviews.
Experience
Proven commercial and contract management skills in both pre- and post-contract phases with strong knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.
Extensive experience with Forms of Contract such as NEC and/or FIDIC within the construction industry and major projects/programmes (power, oil & gas, water, rail, etc.), ideally in the power sector.
Experience working within regulated sectors is advantageous.
Specific project experience delivering HV cables and equipment is welcomed.
Background in HV Power and Energy is beneficial, though relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
