About the Role

As a Ground Investigation Consultant, you will be an integral member of our UK-wide Site Evaluation and Restoration team, supporting the delivery of a broad range of ground investigation projects. Your role will involve collecting, collating and managing site and laboratory data, undertaking site and task management activities, and preparing technical reports. You will work within our Ground Investigation Contracting capability, supporting clients across sectors such as rail, highways and waterways infrastructure projects.
Your responsibilities include ground investigation management, site supervision, and preparation of technical reports including Factual Ground Investigation Reports. A significant portion of your time will be spent on client sites delivering site investigation services. You will manage tasks such as supply chain coordination and procurement, undertake field-based work across the UK, and ensure strong health and safety management and documentation.
You will collect site characterisation data including soil, rock and groundwater samples, log soils and rock in accordance with British Standards, and undertake appropriate in-situ field testing. You will manage geo-environmental sample collection, documentation, and laboratory scheduling, compiling site data for inclusion in reports. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, you will produce high-quality project outputs ensuring compliance with Arcadis standards and relevant legislation.

Experience
- Minimum 12 months' experience delivering geo-environmental projects including geotechnical and/or contaminated land investigations.
- Experience working on site and supervising contractors, including drilling contractors.
- Understanding of hazards, risk management and health & safety requirements associated with ground investigations.
- Strong report-writing skills, including preparing Factual Ground Investigation Reports.
- Experience within rail and/or highways sectors is desirable.

Qualifications
- BSc degree (or higher) in Geology, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science or related Earth Science discipline.
- Clean & valid UK driving licence held for a minimum of 12 months.
- Working towards professional membership and chartership with a relevant professional body.
- SSSTS or SMSTS certification is desirable.
