About the Role
The Control Room Operator (SCADA) is responsible for operating the MBT Plant, controlling the flow and processing of waste by utilising remote control overhead gantry cranes and refining equipment. You will ensure health & safety and environmental compliance while contributing to continuous improvement in productivity, plant availability, and the quality of sub-products produced. Key responsibilities include operating and monitoring all MBT control systems, optimising crane movements and waste placement, diagnosing operating problems and taking corrective action, coordinating with the Engineering team to prioritise critical incidents, carrying out site fly treatments and reviewing fly monitoring data, managing stock control and accurate reporting of contract and non-contract waste, maintaining detailed records of plant operations, logging crane data and downtime to produce weekly reports, ensuring safe site operations, monitoring and responding to fires, alarms and faults, working towards daily, weekly and monthly KPIs, adhering to health & safety and environmental legislation and company policies, implementing and ensuring compliance with all company procedures, performing light maintenance and housekeeping tasks, deputising for the MBT supervisor as required, and becoming a site senior approved person (SAP) responsible for site isolations, permits, and contractor control.
Experience
- Experience of SCADA systems or a similar role in a process plant environment
- Proven track record of working to clearly defined KPIs
- Demonstrated success in delivering continuous improvement within an operational environment
- Experience implementing new processes and developments
- Experience developing and implementing data capture and recording systems
About you
- Willingness to learn and undertake both internal and external training on environmental, health and safety, and other relevant subjects
- Good understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels internally and externally
- Knowledge of MRF operations is desirable
