About the Role
The main purpose of the Site Environmental Technician is to carry out environmental management and control works in a safe and efficient manner under direct and indirect instruction by the site/operations manager. You will be responsible for environmental monitoring and associated reporting of the leachate plant and leachate field to the site manager, as well as carrying out tasks to ensure the efficient and compliant running of site infrastructure. Key responsibilities include maintaining a high regard for health and safety, completing near miss reports, and ensuring compliance with environmental permits. You will perform daily sampling and analysis of the leachate treatment plant lagoons, record flow meter readings, maintain pump and dosing systems, and carry out weekly maintenance tasks such as cleaning lamella plates and checking filters. Additionally, you will manage leachate SCADA control and coordinate daily activities with the operations manager and environmental control advisor.
Experience
- Landfill operational or environmental experience
- Management of leachate treatment facilities
- Ability to understand numerical data
- Significant relevant experience in waste or environmental capacity

You are safety conscious with a strong commitment to environmental compliance. You have technical knowledge of treatment facilities and are able to carry out maintenance and monitoring tasks efficiently. You communicate effectively and work well within a team, coordinating activities with site management and environmental advisors.
Qualifications
