About the Role
Help us make a difference as an Education and Community Engagement Officer. The role focuses on proactive community engagement, education, transparency, and promoting awareness of waste management, recycling, and sustainability initiatives. A key element of the position is delivering engaging site visits and community outreach activities, including school tours and open days, ensuring they are safe, informative, and impactful.

Your core responsibilities include delivering marketing, communications, and engagement activity in line with agreed plans, working closely with site management and evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns. You will develop and deliver awareness campaigns and community events to promote recycling, waste reduction, and sustainable behaviours, building strong local partnerships. You will organise and deliver educational programmes for schools and community groups in line with the National Curriculum and wider engagement objectives. Additionally, you will plan, manage, and host site visits, open days, and tours, ensuring activities are safe, engaging, and well-coordinated, including the creation of supporting materials. Acting as the first point of contact for community enquiries and complaints, you will ensure timely and professional responses and maintain accurate communications channels, including the website. You will also represent the service at stakeholder meetings and lead external communications to strengthen the profile and reputation of the site within the local community.
