About the Role
As an Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for electrical maintenance inspections and routine repairs across all areas of the site to ensure maximum reliability and safety while minimising downtime on critical assets. Working within a small team requires flexibility and a willingness to undertake tasks beyond the core role description.

Your core responsibilities will include diagnosing running faults and ensuring effective repairs and improvements are completed promptly, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, and performing plant upgrades and modifications to required standards. You will report all work through a computerised maintenance management system and contribute to the development and implementation of planned preventative maintenance programmes to reduce downtime and provide engineered solutions to recurrent faults.

Anticipating machine failures and recommending changes to prevent reoccurrence will be key to your role, alongside ensuring strict adherence to SHEQ standards and completing all related documentation. You will help drive a culture of motivation and commitment within the team, assist in identifying annual lifecycle requirements, and support capital applications and business case preparations for non-lifecycle purchases. A proactive approach to fault finding and continuous improvement initiatives is essential.

Experience
- Planned and reactive maintenance on conveyors, magnet belts, eddy current separators in enclosed/restricted spaces
- Working on overhead cranes and working at height
- Experience with single and 3-phase AC and DC electrical systems
- Knowledge of waste processing equipment is preferable
- Experience in FMCG type environments is advantageous
- IT literate and comfortable using business software and systems

Qualifications
- Recognised Apprenticeship with an electrical bias
- Multi-skilled engineer with relevant qualifications such as ONC/BTEC NVQ Level 3 (Electrical bias)
- BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
