About the Role
The Engineering Scheduler is responsible for ensuring the continuity of planned and corrective maintenance work is effectively distributed to the maintenance teams at Biffa BDR. Working closely with the Senior Team Leader, Engineering Planner, Engineering Manager, and operational supervisors, you will support the seamless handover and continuity of work between engineering shifts. Practical, hands-on experience will be beneficial for site maintenance tasks and this role.

Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining the plant within prescribed Health, Safety and Environmental standards including LOLER, PUWER, and COSHH
- Ensuring all statutory and regulatory obligations are met and the annual maintenance calendar tracks inspection regimes
- Developing and managing routine maintenance programs and reviewing existing inspections for value addition
- Reporting and communicating incidents according to incident reporting systems
- Attending safety and maintenance meetings, supporting the rollout of site toolbox talks and safety briefs, and ensuring risk assessments and method statements are in place for each activity
- Collaborating with the compliance team to stay updated on legislative changes related to safety, environmental guidance, and company policies
- Maintaining, controlling, and auditing site stores with a focus on improving standards
- Preparing parts and equipment for on-site works
- Assisting the Engineering Maintenance Manager and team in reviewing, improving, and developing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and work activities
- Managing frontline control of the site CMMS system for PPM scheduling
- Engaging with equipment suppliers and supporting maintenance desks for planned works and improvements via OEM contractors
- Ensuring all works are carried out following SOPs, risk assessments, and using the CMMS system (Shire)
- Supporting accountability for achieving maintenance KPI targets
- Playing an integral role in continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department
- Project planning and delivery
- Performing any other reasonable tasks and duties as required by site management

Requirements

Experience
- Effective diagnosis of plant downtime events to ensure repairs are completed safely, swiftly, completely, and economically
- Ability to deputise for department peers as required
- Experience managing contract labour and flexibility to work overtime or outside normal hours if required
- Competence with CMMS systems

Qualifications
- Qualified HNC/HND with experience as a multi-skilled/mechanical engineer
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification
- Electrical experience is preferable but not essential
- Experience in process/waste industry is advantageous
- Experience managing multi-disciplined teams is desirable
