About the Role
Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. This project will extend the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough, replacing Line 3 and improving transit access across the city.
As an Environmental Inspector, you will report to the Environmental Compliance Officer and be responsible for ensuring all works comply with the Environmental Management System (EMS) across multiple sites along the Scarborough Subway Extension alignment. You will be based full time on-site and your duties will include daily monitoring and inspections, maintaining detailed logs with photographic evidence, completing reports, and assisting with client queries.
You will review air quality, noise, and vibration reports, advise construction teams on mitigation measures, attend construction meetings to provide environmental guidance, and prepare non-conformance and spill reports. You will also interface with environmental subconsultants, assist in collecting environmental samples, and support the environmental team with various reporting tasks. Flexibility to respond to evening and weekend calls is required.

Experience
A diploma, bachelor, or advanced degree in an environmental-related discipline (ecology, biology, environmental science) from a recognized post-secondary institution. A minimum of three to five years of demonstrated experience in environmental monitoring and mitigation during roadway or transit infrastructure construction, particularly related to watercourses, erosion and sedimentation control, spill reporting, and dust containment.
Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) or proven proficiency in inspecting and reporting on Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.
Full Canadian driver's license with a clear driving abstract.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
About you
Detail-oriented and proactive with strong communication skills. Able to work independently on-site and respond promptly to environmental issues. Comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment and collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
Qualifications
Relevant environmental education credentials as noted above. Certification in sediment and erosion control is highly preferred. Valid Canadian driver’s license is required.
