Location
Barnet, with travel around the M25 network and between depots as required.

Hours
Expected to work Monday to Friday on a rotating shift basis: 2 weeks day shifts followed by 2 weeks night shifts.
Day shifts: 07:00 to 16:00 with a 45-minute break.
Night shifts: 20:30 to 05:30.
Participation in out of hours call out rotas such as Winter Maintenance is expected.

About the Role

As an Environmental Maintenance Technical (Highways), no two days are the same. You will be out on the network carrying out a wide range of essential activities, from repairs and inspections to maintaining the landscape surrounding the motorway.
An exciting opportunity to be part of a new soft estate’s maintenance team.
You will supervise the efficient delivery on the M25 DBFO Network of a wide range of soft estates works including hazard clearance, network maintenance, and other tasks as required by your Line Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Soft estates maintenance such as grass cutting, heavy vegetation clearance, arboriculture works, ditch clearance, weed spraying, and other associated grounds maintenance tasks.
- People management including annual leave, performance, conduct, and absence management in line with relevant policies.
- Ensuring a relentless focus on Making Safety Personal and Zero Harm.
- Providing accurate and legible written and verbal communication in the form of reports and records.
- Using mobile communication/data devices to input data accurately for reports and business records.
- Undertaking routine vehicle checks and maintaining accurate driving records in line with legislation.
- Taking due care of CPS property including tablets, vehicles, and radios.
- Raising awareness of issues affecting the safe operation of the network and reporting these as observed.
- Participating in Winter Service rota and attending training courses as required.
- Supporting the delivery of CPSUK’s Sustainability activities.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in highways or environmental maintenance roles is essential.
- Experience in supervising teams and managing performance.
- Experience working in shift patterns including nights and weekends is desirable.

- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Reliable and flexible with a willingness to participate in out of hours call outs.
- Able to travel around the M25 network and attend meetings, training, and work sites as required.

Qualifications
- UK Driving Licence, minimum category C (LGV Class 1).
- Driver Qualification Card / CPC up to date.
- SSSTS/SMSTS or equivalent.
- CSCS Supervisors Card.
- Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Highways Maintenance or equivalent.
- Register Of Land-based Operations (ROLO) supervisor level.
- Sector Scheme 18 – relevant elements.
- PA 1 (weed treatment) certification.
