About the Role
As an Environmental Sustainability Advisor at Balfour Beatty, you will support the delivery of environmental sustainability on projects, ensuring compliance, stakeholder engagement, and performance reporting aligned with the Building New Futures strategy. This role combines hands-on operational delivery with early-stage team guidance and influence.
Your key responsibilities will include delivering value-adding environmental projects and supporting ecological enhancements; contributing to and maintaining Involved Plans while monitoring compliance across projects; liaising with clients, regulatory bodies, and subcontractors on environmental management and sustainability matters; producing and updating environmental management plans, environmental risk assessments, and site information packs.
You will provide on-site advice to operations and design teams regarding environmental management, compliance, and project-specific mitigation measures including pollution control and ecological and archaeological protection. Investigating environmental incidents and supporting the implementation of controls to prevent recurrence will also be part of your role. Additionally, you will ensure the implementation of project environmental management systems on site, stay informed of changes to standards and legislation, and recommend updates to systems and processes as needed.
