About the Role
Are you ready to take the next step in your career and contribute to high-profile projects in water resources, environmental, and infrastructure sectors? As a Fluvial Geomorphologist at WSP, you will support the Catchment Science team within our Sustainable Water Management Consulting group. Your work will be varied and challenging, including fluvial geomorphology studies, River Condition Assessments for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), Water Framework Directive compliance assessments, and supporting the Hydromorphology Service Line Lead. You will produce high-quality client and public-facing deliverables, communicate complex data effectively, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions. You will also promote a 'safety first' culture aligned with WSP's health and safety policies.
Our hydromorphology team is rapidly growing and expanding into exciting areas such as BNG for Rivers and Streams, providing technical leadership and delivering award-winning projects like the Otley Flood Alleviation Scheme. We work with a diverse client base including Rail, Highways, Local Authorities, Housing, and Private Development sectors. Experience
- Proven track record in applied Fluvial Geomorphology including knowledge of river types, sediment dynamics, and hydraulics
- Excellent understanding of fluvial geomorphological processes and Water Framework Directive (WFD)
- Experience with the planning system and contributions to Environmental Statement (ES) water chapters and WFD assessments
- Project and budget management experience
About you
- Highly motivated, numerate, and enthusiastic self-starter
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and interpret complex data
- Flexible and capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team
Qualifications
- BSc degree in a relevant field (e.g. geomorphology, environmental science, catchment management)
- Relevant postgraduate degree or PhD desirable
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution or actively pursuing chartership
