About the Role
Biffa is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead and manage the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of waste collection vehicles and equipment, ranging from car derived vans to 44t Artic Units and trailers. You will be responsible for ensuring maximum fleet availability by planning and scheduling vehicle inspections, servicing, and repairs in line with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements. The role involves driving high standards of health & safety, housekeeping, and workshop compliance across all areas. You will support and manage workshop employees, overseeing performance, attendance, and development, while ensuring accurate completion and control of all service, maintenance, and repair documentation. Additionally, you will oversee fault diagnosis and repair work across hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and build strong working relationships with operational depot teams to maintain service performance. Delivering excellent workshop performance, productivity, and downtime control across the fleet is essential.

Experience
- Minimum 5 years workshop experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role
- Proven experience maintaining vehicles and waste handling equipment to current legislative and DVSA standards
- Strong technical knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair
- Experience managing maintenance records, compliance documentation, and workshop health & safety standards
- Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and vehicle electrical systems including fault finding and diagnostics

Qualifications
- Minimum Level 3 HGV NVQ or equivalent
- HGV Licence essential
