About the Role
As an HWRC Operative at our Cottesmore and North Luffenham Household Waste Recycling Centres, you will play a vital role in ensuring the sites operate safely, efficiently, and in line with operational requirements. You will work directly with members of the public, providing guidance on the correct disposal of waste and recycling materials to ensure safe site usage. You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming sites, delivering a professional and helpful service to residents.
Your core responsibilities include supporting the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the Household Waste Recycling Centres, assisting the public with waste disposal, directing and controlling site traffic in accordance with procedures, ensuring waste is deposited correctly, maintaining site cleanliness and organisation, completing accurate site records and paperwork, monitoring site activities and reporting any incidents or unsafe behaviour, delivering excellent customer service, following all health, safety, environmental and operational procedures, working collaboratively as part of a team, and carrying out additional duties as directed by management.
In addition to your primary role, you may be required to undertake operational duties at the main Rutland depot. These may include supporting street cleansing activities and working as part of municipal waste and recycling crews to help maintain essential environmental services across the local area.

Experience
Ability to competently operate machinery and work with minimal supervision. Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and ability to follow health and safety procedures.
About you
Reliable team player able to work effectively as part of a team collecting waste from designated points and returning containers as necessary. Able to follow instructions and adapt to additional tasks as requested by management. Professional and positive attitude when representing Biffa.
A valid UK driving licence is required.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are specified; however, a commitment to health and safety standards and the ability to operate machinery safely are essential.
