About the Role
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer at Veolia, you will lead day-to-day and shutdown maintenance activities to maximise plant throughput and minimise downtime. You will coordinate workflow between two shifts, plan weekly maintenance, and allocate weekend shutdown tasks. Supervising on-shift technicians, you will assign labour across planned preventative maintenance (PPM), process issues, and breakdowns. You will plan, schedule, and organise all maintenance activities using SAP CMMS to optimise plant uptime and availability. Your role includes carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and process equipment. You will manage service contractors, including inductions, work permits, RAMS reviews, and ensuring compliance with safe working practices. Additionally, you will oversee parts identification, ordering, and repairs to support continuous operations and reduce disruption. Regular inspection of equipment and work areas for hazards or defects, completing required documentation and reporting issues to the Maintenance Manager, will also be part of your responsibilities.

Veolia offers 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, access to a company pension scheme, discounts on groceries and well-known retailers, and a range of resources to support your physical, mental, and financial health. You will have 24-hour access to a virtual GP for you and your household, one paid day leave annually to volunteer, and ongoing training and development opportunities to help you reach your full potential.

About you
You are an enthusiastic and competent problem solver with a practical approach to engineering challenges. You demonstrate an analytical approach to investigation combined with the practical ability to resolve engineering problems effectively. You are capable of leading teams and managing multiple maintenance activities efficiently.
