About the Role
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 34,000 people across more than 30 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life. Join us and play an important role in shaping the future of the UK's largest rail projects.
Whether you are early in your career, building specialist expertise, or bringing years of delivery experience, you will contribute to transformative projects such as HS2, Washwood Heath Depot, Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), Navan, and other major rail programmes. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams delivering complex, high-profile infrastructure that will leave a lasting impact for generations.
As a Rail Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the successful delivery of rail systems design, integration, assurance, and engineering activities. You will collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to develop integrated rail systems solutions, support systems engineering requirements throughout project lifecycles, and apply systems thinking to solve complex technical and operational challenges. Your work will support safety, reliability, performance, and operational readiness objectives while helping to deliver infrastructure that improves connectivity, enhances passenger experience, and creates long-term value for communities.
At Arcadis, you will be part of a culture that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development, building trusted relationships and delivering meaningful impact through career-defining projects.
Experience
We welcome applications from professionals at all career stages including graduates, engineers, senior engineers, principal engineers, and technical specialists. Experience within rail systems engineering or a related rail discipline is required. Knowledge of one or more rail systems areas such as signalling, telecoms, E&P, traction power, SCADA, control systems, systems integration, systems assurance, or systems engineering is essential. Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments and the ability to analyse technical challenges and contribute to practical, effective solutions are important.
Due to the nature of some projects, successful candidates may be required to obtain and maintain BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance. Support will be provided throughout the process where applicable.
About you
You are committed to collaboration, safety, and continuous learning. You have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for delivering infrastructure that creates lasting benefits for passengers, communities, and future generations.
Qualifications
Professional qualifications, chartership, or progress towards professional registration are welcome but not essential. A passion for sustainable infrastructure and a desire to create a lasting legacy are key.
