About the Role
Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Recycling Centre Operative to deliver excellent customer service and ensure high standards of health and safety compliance at the site. You will be responsible for managing waste segregation, maintaining site cleanliness, and supporting safe and efficient site operations. Key duties include assisting and advising site users, ensuring correct segregation of waste streams to maximise material recovery, separating and storing hazardous waste appropriately, maintaining housekeeping standards, cleaning and maintaining equipment, managing traffic flows safely, and reporting defects or non-compliance issues. You will follow all relevant risk assessments, safe operating procedures, and contract requirements to ensure the site operates safely and efficiently. Training opportunities are available to develop your skills and support service continuity.

Experience
Good communication and listening skills are essential. Experience in customer service or waste management is advantageous but not mandatory as training will be provided.

You have the ability to build and maintain strong, cohesive relationships at all levels. A good understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance is required. You must be willing to learn new skills and attend training courses to support service continuity.
