About the Role
As a Training Supervisor at Biffa Waste Services, you will deliver essential training for drivers, loaders, operatives, and supervisors across Biffa’s recycling and waste management contracts in Manchester. Your role ensures all employees are fully equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently. You will either have previous experience in a training role or be an experienced driver within the waste management or a related service industry. Holding a Category C driving licence and experience driving various vehicle types is essential. This position plays a vital part in supporting Biffa’s strong health and safety culture.

Your core responsibilities include:
- Operational Support: Assisting depots to meet Vehicle Gate Check, Crew Monitoring, and Route Risk Assessment targets; mentoring staff to correct unsafe or non-compliant behaviours; reporting major vehicle cleanliness or condition issues to the Business Manager.
- Training Delivery: Providing training to a consistently high standard aligned with Group Training Standards and contractual requirements, tailoring content to contract specifications and operational needs.
- Driver Coaching & Compliance: Coaching drivers to improve skills, reduce accidents, and prevent Operator Licence contraventions; alerting Business Managers when drivers fall below competency standards.
- Depot-Based Training (DBT): Conducting training on key operational practices including wheel torquing, manual handling, vehicle defect checks, in-cab PDA usage, tachographs/logbooks, and driver debriefs.

Experience
- Previous experience in a training role or as an experienced driver in waste management or a related service industry.
- Working knowledge of transport and relevant legislation.
- Experience working within a time-critical service environment.

Qualifications
- LGV Category C (Class 2) Driving Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
