The Places Design Practice is seeking a career-minded Senior Civil Engineer with proven experience in the design and delivery of civil engineering and urban development activities within building projects. This includes surface and foul drainage, utilities, ground/earthworks, and highways interfaces. The role supports Urban Development services through collaboration with cross-GBA teams, GEC, and global Places expertise. Experience in Industrial Manufacturing, Technology, or Defence projects is welcomed.

Key responsibilities include managing engineering activities that contribute to sustainable development while applying Arcadis Health and Safety Principles, collaborating with other design disciplines to ensure design integrity, and preparing design solutions across project stages. You will manage drawings, BIM models, reports, and specifications, attend project meetings, and review team outputs for accuracy. The role also involves managing engineering management arrangements aligned with Arcadis Integrated Management System, maintaining technical ownership of Designer Hazard Logs and Design Decision Logs, and communicating residual risks to the Principal Designer.

As a technical design lead, you will provide guidance and technical advice to junior engineers, technicians, and apprentices, contribute to resolving technical issues, and manage project planning, team coordination, and resource allocation.

Experience
- Degree qualified with Chartered or Incorporated status, or close to achieving chartered status.
- Proven experience in civil engineering and urban development design and delivery within building projects, including surface water and foul water drainage, highways, and utility design.
- Proficiency in software such as MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD Civil3D, and BIM integration.
- Sound knowledge of design standards including SuDS, SfA, DMRB, and Building Regulations.
- Experience in project management including planning, programming, commercial management, and client relationship management.
- Ability to lead, provide direction, and offer technical advice to support team delivery and professional development.
- Competent in fundamental design principles with ability to apply manual calculation methods where software is unavailable.
