We invite you to express your interest in future opportunities as a Senior EICA Design Engineer within our MEICA team, working on a variety of water and wastewater projects regionally and across the UK. Following recent long-term design partner agreements, our water sector engineering team is expanding, offering a stable pipeline of work and career development opportunities.
In this role, reporting to the Principal Engineer or Associate Technical Director, you will lead the design output of your discipline, ensuring projects meet budget, timeline, and quality objectives while exceeding client expectations. You will promote Arcadis' services during client engagements, contribute to divisional business goals, and foster industry networks.
Key responsibilities include leading complex electrical detailed designs, supporting or leading design and advisory services for water and wastewater process plants and pumping stations, ensuring safety through design leadership, and delivering multi-disciplinary projects using the latest digital design techniques. You will identify innovative technical solutions, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, establish client relationships, and ensure compliance with technical, legislative, quality, safety, and environmental standards.
This role also involves capturing key project knowledge, promoting MEICA team capabilities internally and externally, and mentoring junior team members.
Experience
- Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex water industry engineering projects, preferably in water and wastewater.
- Proven track record in design and construct projects using digital design.
- Experience leading design phases (concept, outline, detail) for Instrumentation Control Automation systems.
- Sound knowledge of ICA design including instrumentation, PLC and SCADA systems, motor control systems (MCCs), system architecture, fieldbus/communication networks, P&ID’s, ATEX installation practice, functional safety, and control specifications.
- Experience with AutoCAD, AutoDesk Plant 3D, and Common Data Environments.
- Ability to self-start and work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience managing technical client relationships and supporting project pursuits.
- Knowledge of UK design standards, working practices, national guidance, and cybersecurity best practices for industrial automation and control systems.
- Participation in inspection, testing, commissioning, and factory acceptance tests for ICA equipment and installations.

Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a directly related discipline.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or working towards it, with membership of a professional institution such as IET, InstMC, or CIWEM.
- Technical/Discipline Team leader experience with collaborative behaviours.
- Feasibility to detailed design stage delivery experience.
