About the Role
Murphy is hiring a Senior Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects for key clients in the South of England, primarily Thames Water and South East Water, with potential involvement across other regions including Severn Trent Water. This pivotal role involves managing multiple projects through all phases—from identification and design to procurement, construction, and commissioning. You will ensure effective oversight of all key project elements including health and safety, scope, estimating, commercial and financial management, risk, quality, and resource planning. Reporting directly to the UK Regional Manager, your daily responsibilities will include engaging with key water company clients to understand needs, identifying opportunities, and supporting tendering teams in developing compliant water/wastewater treatment solutions. You will oversee the daily management of a portfolio of projects covering design development, process, civil, structural, pipeline, MEICA, commissioning, and handover. Managing project delivery across programme, budget, construction, HSE performance, and progress for all assigned projects is essential. You will lead and support staff at all levels, promoting development and retention of key personnel, while maintaining professional relationships with senior client representatives. Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial awareness is required. Collaboration with Murphy teams to define design requirements and deliver technical solutions through a multi-disciplinary approach is expected. Ensuring all projects comply with current Health & Safety, CDM, and Environmental regulations, reviewing subcontractor RAMS, process designs, engineering drawings, and environmental compliance will be part of your role. You will ensure projects meet client technical standards through coordination with internal and external design teams, provide technical input for tenders, and support work-winning efforts. Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes using MS Project and Primavera P6 to meet key milestones, adhering to company safety, environmental, and quality systems, producing project performance reports, and participating in monthly reviews with senior management are key duties. You will also ensure compliance with company commercial and financial procedures, finalise contract documentation with the Commercial Team, and manage price variations and final accounts.
