About the Role
The Derby EfW Facility (DDWTC) is currently in a state of preservation due to operational challenges during commissioning. A plan to re-commission and bring the facility back into full operation is under development. As a Shift Preservation Operator, you will work as part of a small team responsible for preserving the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) and Advanced Conversion Technology (ACT) Gasification Plant at Sinfin in Derby. Reporting to the Operations Engineer and Shift Team Leaders, you will ensure that all Contracted Preservation Services and activities are carried out safely and efficiently.

You will collaborate closely with site colleagues and maintenance staff to complete daily, weekly, and monthly tasks necessary to preserve the site's assets and maintain overall safety and security of the DDWTC site. Key responsibilities include operating and inspecting plant and equipment, assisting with preservation procedures, recording activities, reporting defects, supporting maintenance with intrusive preservation works, and ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.

Additional duties include monitoring and testing fire detection and suppression systems, performing fire watches and security inspections, managing authorised personnel access, handling out of hours emergencies, and coordinating routine contractor attendance for cleaning, grounds maintenance, and pest control.

Experience
- Basic engineering and maintenance skills
- Experience working with large industrial plant or EfW operations or similar
- Familiarity with computerised monitoring and reporting systems
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered
- Willingness to work shift systems associated with a 24/7 operation
