£12.92 per hour, paid at 40 hours per week.

About the Role
As a Site Operative at our Frome HWRC, you will play a vital role in ensuring the site operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and operational standards. This hands-on, outdoor role involves working directly with members of the public to assist and advise on the safe disposal and segregation of waste, helping to maximise recycling efforts. You will support the day-to-day running of the recycling centre by directing site traffic, monitoring waste compliance, handling hazardous materials safely, maintaining site cleanliness, and completing accurate records. You will also help prevent unauthorised tipping and represent Biffa professionally while delivering excellent customer service. Working as part of a team, you will follow all health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures to maintain high standards across the site.

Experience
Previous experience within the waste or recycling industry is desirable but not essential. Experience carrying out basic site maintenance or minor repairs and working outdoors in adverse weather conditions is advantageous.

About you
Good customer service and communication skills. Comfortable working directly with the public and able to deal confidently and professionally with difficult situations. Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, using your own initiative. A good understanding of, or interest in, recycling and waste segregation. Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. Willing to work weekends and bank holidays with rest days during the week. A strong commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications
Basic literacy, numeracy, and record-keeping skills. Basic health and safety knowledge is desirable. A full driving licence is advantageous.
