About the Role
The Social Media Executive will support Biffa’s day-to-day social media activity by creating and delivering engaging, audience-focused content across priority platforms. Working within the Strategic Communications team, this role supports strategic communications and integrated campaigns by creating, publishing, and optimising social content that enhances Biffa’s reputation, growth, and community engagement objectives. You will manage the social content calendar, collaborating closely with the Head of Strategic Communications, Strategic Communications Manager, Press & Media Officer, Community Executive, divisional marketing teams, and subject matter experts to maximise reach and engagement. Responsibilities include monitoring channel performance, identifying opportunities to improve content and engagement, supporting real-time communications, and providing insights to inform future campaigns. This role requires a confident social content creator with strong knowledge of social platforms, audience engagement, and digital communications, capable of producing a variety of content and collaborating effectively across the business and with external partners.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day activity across Biffa's owned social media channels, ensuring content is published accurately, consistently, and in line with agreed plans and calendars.
- Create, edit, adapt, and schedule compelling social content across priority platforms, optimised for targeted audiences to drive reach and engagement.
- Support integrated strategic communications and broader campaigns through social content creation and distribution.
- Repurpose content across social channels and formats to maximise reach, engagement, and value.
- Maintain and manage the social calendar, aligning activity with strategic communications priorities, campaigns, and business objectives.
- Work with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify social content opportunities, gather information, and create engaging social assets.
- Support the creation and coordination of photography, video, graphics, and multimedia for social channels through internal resources and external suppliers as needed.

Requirements

Experience
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience managing social media channels for a corporate or agency in a B2B environment.
- Proven ability to create content across a range of social media platforms.
- Experience supporting integrated communications, marketing, or content campaigns.
- Skilled in using social media scheduling, publishing, and analytics platforms.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.

About You
You are a confident and creative social content creator with strong digital and social media skills. You have experience using platforms such as Canva to create engaging visual content and social media assets, alongside social media management and scheduling tools like Sprout Social or similar. You collaborate effectively across teams and external partners, are proactive in identifying content opportunities, and are committed to delivering high-quality communications that support business objectives.

Qualifications
Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a relevant field is essential. Strong digital media skills and familiarity with social media management tools are required to succeed in this role.
