About the Role
The purpose of this role is to participate in all technical and engineering aspects related to the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) works. Join a ‘once in a generation’ project delivering clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will create a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast, providing reliable low-carbon electricity. The Civil Works Alliance is a collaborative delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics, and Laing O’Rourke. This alliance combines years of learning and experience from major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide into a single delivery organisation.

Key responsibilities include developing technical solutions for temporary tunnel services strategy (pipes, ducts, cables, brackets, pedestrian access, conveyor, survey, communication, traffic), power distribution across surface, shafts and tunnels, tunnel ventilation, water management (supply and recycling), dewatering, water treatment, compressed air, slurry/foam systems, TBM grout production and testing, utility consumption/load assessments, coordination with surface infrastructure providers, plant integration (gantry cranes, service vehicles, grout plant, conveyors), preparation of plant and equipment specifications, production cycle planning and sizing of plant and equipment for required output, preparation of TBM works method statements, supporting procurement activities, assessing subcontractor and supplier offers, and providing input to planning and cost estimating teams.

Experience
- Minimum 5 years of TBM work experience
- Participation in defining plant and equipment for TBM projects
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems for tunnel projects

Qualifications
- Desirable knowledge of calculations for sizing metal and concrete structures
