Working within the Thames Water contract, the UK's largest water and wastewater company serving approximately 16 million customers, you will play a vital role in maintaining critical infrastructure. Your work will involve delivering essential wastewater and drainage services that protect communities and the environment.
As a Waste Network Engineer, you will operate as part of a two-person team travelling to residential sites via HGV, powering high-pressure water jets to restore and maintain drainage systems. You will be responsible for cleaning, clearing, and maintaining drainage networks, running diagnostics and repairs, and ensuring excellent customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating JHL specification vacuum tankers and associated equipment safely
- Recording job reports accurately using specialist equipment
- Maintaining health and safety standards including PPE and safe site setups
- Utilizing VISTEC and Salesforce platforms
- Conducting thorough inspections of tools, equipment, and plant before and after use
- Carrying out risk assessments and dynamically assessing site conditions
- Liaising with clients and supporting colleagues
- Ensuring vehicle stock is replenished and safe manual handling of equipment
- Working unsupervised in all weather conditions while following lone worker procedures
Full training will be provided to support your success in this role.
Experience
A minimum of a HGV Class 2 licence, completion of the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), and possession of an up-to-date digi tachograph card are essential.
