About the Role
What if you could do the kind of work the world needs? At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. Join our dynamic Mining team, drivers of change guiding clients towards sustainable mining practices. Critical minerals and mining are vital to the low carbon future, supporting clean energy technologies that are more material intensive than traditional fossil-fuel-based systems. We are recruiting graduates with a flexible approach and an appetite to learn to work in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory consultancy. You will enjoy working collaboratively on diverse projects and clients across the mining life cycle, from exploration and pre-feasibility through to mine closure, supporting sustainable mining practices globally.

Our graduate roles are available in the following services and locations:
- Mine Water – Hydrology / Water Resources Engineering, Hydrogeology and Geochemistry: Naas (Ireland), Birmingham, London
- Mine Waste: Naas (Ireland), Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham, London

Projects you may contribute to include water balance models and management plans for mining organisations in the UK and Europe; dam break assessments; detailed engineering designs of hydraulic structures; operational and closure water quality modelling globally; passive mine water treatment; Environmental and Social Impact Assessments in Greenland and West Africa; numerical modelling for mine expansions; water reduction strategies for leading mining organisations; and hydrogeological field programmes for feasibility and monitoring studies in Europe.

Our Mining Teams

The Mine Water team comprises surface water, waste, groundwater and geochemistry professionals working with industry leaders to improve site water management and protect people and the environment.
Hydrology / Water Resource Engineering
Graduates support technical assessments and design solutions for water and drainage management, including hydrological modelling, water engineering solutions, and preparation of technical documents under supervision.
Hydrogeology
Graduates gain site working experience including domestic and international field visits, sampling, monitoring, borehole drilling supervision, aquifer testing, numerical modelling, and groundwater analysis using industry software.
Geochemistry
Graduates work on international projects developing water quality and geochemical models, delivering mine water studies, managing environmental media samples, and contributing to technical reports.

Mine Waste
The Mine Waste team advises on tailings and waste management throughout the mining life cycle, providing geotechnical expertise on retaining walls, foundations, earthworks, and soil mechanics. Graduates collaborate on design, engineering, asset management, and client support, including 2D and 3D modelling, project management, technical documentation, and business development. This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with national and international networks.
