About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clean Water Process Engineer (Principal to Associate Director level) to join our Water Engineering teams across multiple UK locations. You will play a key role in delivering process engineering design content on a variety of challenging water engineering projects, including water and water reuse schemes both in the UK and overseas. Your involvement will span from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design for procurement and construction, as well as reviewing supplier proposals.
Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you will produce process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, and basis of design reports to achieve optimal project solutions. You will undertake outline and detailed process engineering design, attend site visits for data acquisition, and liaise with site operators. Your role will also include providing technical input to procurement, supporting Project Managers in client discussions, engaging with technology providers and vendors, and participating in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, and SWIFT reviews.
Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and supervision to junior staff, collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integration of process engineering requirements, contribute to proposals, work scopes, schedules, and budgets, and maintain strong client relationships to ensure their needs are met.

Experience
- Significant experience delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects, including leading process engineering roles on projects or major tasks
- Experience in the municipal water industry
- Proven ability to prepare and review process design deliverables such as technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, process control philosophies, P&IDs, mass balances, and procurement documentation
- Experience delivering optioneering studies, feasibility, concept, and detailed design for municipal clean water treatment solutions including Clarification (bottom hopper), DAF, Rapid Gravity Filtration, Disinfection, Taste & Odour/Pesticides Removal, and Chemical Dosing
- Previous consultancy or engineering company experience acting as a Process Engineer
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports and deliver presentations to diverse audiences
- Confident and articulate communicator capable of engaging with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary meetings and acting as a technical representative with external clients
- Ability to work accurately and flexibly, integrating with other disciplines while managing own and team workloads within tight schedules and budgets
- Willingness and ability to travel to operational works and construction sites, acting safely and assessing process performance

Qualifications
- Degree or MSc in Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- Professional registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership within 12 months
