About the Role
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 34,000 people across more than 30 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life by solving complex challenges through collaboration and innovation.

We are seeking an Asset Management Principal Consultant to join our UK rail asset management team. In this role, you will contribute to delivering our rail asset management strategy, lead consultancy projects, and develop value propositions within the rail sector. You will also support our wider global advisory business across mobility, resilience, and places.

Reporting to an associate director within the mobility division, you will play a key role in shaping and growing the rail asset management team. This position offers excellent career development opportunities, including managing colleagues and acting as a subject matter expert in asset management.

By combining digital innovation, engineering expertise, data analytics, and consultancy, we deliver sustainable and predictive solutions that enable asset-intensive organisations to make better decisions throughout the asset lifecycle—from planning and creation through to maintenance, operation, and disposal.

As part of our team, you will help deliver some of our biggest and most iconic projects, working alongside a highly talented and experienced group. Your energy, agility, and attention to detail will drive transformational outcomes for multiple clients every day.

We partner with clients globally to design thriving, connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Our solutions address evolving demands driven by climate change, urbanisation, and digitisation, integrating existing infrastructure with new technologies to optimise mobility of people and goods.

Role Accountabilities
- Deliver projects successfully on time, meeting quality and budget targets while exceeding client expectations.
- Support strategy implementation by contributing to UK mobility asset management strategy delivery and building global capability, applying international standards such as ISO55000.
- Develop asset management strategies, change programmes, and business cases.
- Design and implement ISO55001 aligned management systems.
- Optimise investment decisions and long-term business planning for asset portfolios.
- Create tools and approaches for value-driven decisions on asset renewals, maintenance, and improvements.
- Prepare asset strategies, management plans, and maintenance optimisation programmes.
- Drive operational efficiency improvements.
- Enhance asset information strategies and improve data maturity.
- Build strong client and stakeholder relationships to ensure trust and collaboration.
- Promote growth and leadership by representing Arcadis in the rail asset management market, contributing to thought leadership, supporting cross-business tenders, and showcasing company capabilities to create new opportunities.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience with transportation clients, asset-rich organisations, or consultancy in the asset management space.
- Ability to resolve strategic, tactical, and operational challenges including asset management strategies, change programmes, investment planning, risk/value assessments, operations, and maintenance.
- Experience with decision support tools, asset information strategies, data quality, maturity gap analysis, benefits management, process development, and data analysis.
- Delivery or management of asset, infrastructure, or technology projects in the transport sector.
- Project management experience.
- Leadership experience managing professional teams.
- External accreditation (e.g., MCA or IAM) or willingness to work toward it.
- Experience in project and business change management.

About You
- Entrepreneurial and inclusive mindset with ambition to grow.
- Problem solver and output-focused individual who understands clients’ business needs and delivers effective solutions.
- Strong communication and numeracy skills.
- Industry connections to support growth of Arcadis’ asset management business.
- Growth mindset and eagerness to help build a unified, forward-looking asset management offering.
