As an Associate Technical Director - Ecology, you will join a team of over 50 ecologists with more than 30 years of experience in ecological surveys, assessments, and environmental consultancy across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

You will lead and manage the delivery of diverse projects, including Urban and Greenfield Residential Development, Highway and Rail Schemes, Power Stations, and Infrastructure projects, working with a wide range of public and private clients such as EDF Energy, Welsh Government, Transport for Wales, Natural Resources Wales, National Grid, Environment Agency, and others.

In this role, you will provide technical leadership and advice, manage client relationships, and ensure project delivery meets time, budgetary, and SHEQ targets. Your work will cover protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality, noise, and other environmental management areas. You will also contribute to international projects involving Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessments and Natural Capital assessments.

Requirements

Experience
- Excellent commercial and project management skills across a range of project sizes
- Detailed knowledge of ecological principles, biodiversity metrics, and relevant environmental and ecological impact assessment legislation, policy, and guidance
- In-depth expertise in specific plant or animal groups and field survey skills
- Proven track record delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and Ecology Chapters for Environmental Statements with successful consents
- Experience writing project and plan-level Habitat Regulation Assessments (HRAs)
- Proven experience in bid production and client interaction
- Experience leading teams and managing staff performance
- Hold survey and/or mitigation/conservation licenses
- Lead design and compliance of biosecurity and health and safety protocols

Qualifications
- Relevant degree in ecology or related discipline, ideally with further education qualifications
- Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist status or demonstrably approaching Chartered Ecologist
- Full member of CIEEM (Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management)
