About the Role
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 36,000 people in more than 70 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life by solving complex challenges together.
Our Water Design & Engineering team is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join us. In this key leadership role, you will work within multidisciplinary delivery teams on a variety of water and wastewater capital projects, applying your expertise to clients regionally and across the UK.
Arcadis is expanding its water sector engineering team following multiple long-term design partner agreements across the UK. You will collaborate with delivery partners in the north of England, design-and-build contractors, and water utility clients in the south. With frameworks extending into AMP9, this role offers the opportunity to build lasting relationships, develop your career within a stable pipeline of work, and contribute meaningfully to resilient water infrastructure.
This role is part of our Resilience Global Business Area, focused on protecting natural environments and water resources while powering the world sustainably for future generations. As climate change and urbanization increase the frequency of large-scale events such as floods and wildfires, your work will help shape a more resilient future.
Key responsibilities include leading and delivering complex electrical designs, providing design leadership and advisory services for water and wastewater process plants, pumping stations, and ancillary assets. You will ensure safety through design leadership, lead multi-disciplinary projects using the latest digital design techniques, and develop innovative technical solutions aligned with client needs.
Additional duties include coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, establishing and growing client and partner relationships, ensuring compliance with technical, legislative, quality, safety, and environmental standards, mentoring colleagues, managing assigned staff, capturing key project knowledge, and promoting MEICA team capabilities internally and externally.

- Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex engineering projects, preferably in the water and wastewater industry.
- Proven track record working on design and construct projects using digital design platforms.

About you
- Ability to self-start and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and supervise colleagues.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to engage with clients and partners.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Collaborative mindset and innovative approach to problem-solving.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a directly related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status and membership of a professional institution such as IET, InstMC, or CIWEM.
