We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate Director to join our Environmental Consents nationwide team. This role is strategically significant and offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to identify, win and deliver multi-disciplinary inputs to a range of energy projects for a wide client base. Our current portfolio includes some of the UK's most important and transformational infrastructure projects, supporting the UK’s commitments to Net Zero.

As an Associate Director, you will work with a range of technical environmental specialists and design teams across multiple sectors to direct and lead environmental teams and inputs to project designs and assessments. You will be instrumental in improving environmental performance across diverse projects. The role involves responsibility for recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management.

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and delivering environmental elements of engineering projects
- Playing a key role in expanding our water sector offer alongside sector leads and client account managers
- Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
- Promoting sustainable design and environmental enhancement
- Leading large, complex projects and overseeing technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance
- Building and maintaining client relationships and identifying new business opportunities
- Developing proposals and delivering strategic bids and framework opportunities
- Driving innovation through Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, and Future Ready EIA initiatives
- Supporting team performance improvement and career development
- Promoting an inclusive workplace and living the values of health, safety, and wellbeing culture
- Contributing to the success of WSP’s business strategy with self-motivation and leadership

Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) delivery for major water schemes
- Familiarity with consenting processes such as Habitats Regulations Assessments and SSSI Assents
- Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues
- Proven line management experience
- Track record of developing and upskilling internal teams
- Demonstrated success in driving business growth

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to build strong client relationships and identify new opportunities

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental or planning degree or equivalent experience
