About the Role
Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. With over 34,000 people across more than 30 countries, we are dedicated to improving quality of life by solving complex challenges through collaboration and innovation.
We are seeking an Associate Technical Director to join our Wastewater network modelling team. This role focuses on leading hydraulic modelling projects primarily for UK Water Companies and other clients, supporting the delivery of WINEP drivers for Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) improvements, Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs), catchment growth, flooding, and pollution control.
The role involves managing the transition from conventional urban wastewater modelling to incorporating Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) retrofit schemes. You will influence project direction in this publicly important area, delivering projects from scoping through concept stage and supporting design and delivery phases. You will provide dynamic technical leadership, coordinate teams, and identify efficient solutions through collaborative value engineering.
Key responsibilities include managing client relationships, building and leading technical teams, overseeing technical outputs, and understanding commercial and contract management aspects. You will work effectively across organisational boundaries internally and externally, with opportunities for progression towards senior management.
Reporting to the Service Lead for Design & Engineering, you will join a growing team of 90+ professionals across multiple offices, delivering services spanning flood risk and hydrology, fluvial and network modelling, sustainable drainage, water resources management, water quality, river engineering, waterways, dams and reservoirs, and consultancy advisory.
The role offers variety across all asset lifecycle stages, from feasibility and optioneering through design, modelling, planning, environmental consents, site supervision, and asset refurbishment. You will work with regulators, local government bodies, infrastructure providers, water companies, developers, and investors, collaborating closely with other Design and Engineering Leads in Water Management.
The successful candidate will have proven capability delivering SuDS and Nature Based Solutions across diverse projects, providing technical leadership, client management, and team development while championing quality, innovation, and a culture of health and safety.
Arcadis is committed to protecting the natural environment and water resources while addressing climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss. Join us to make a meaningful impact and create a lasting legacy.
