About the Role

The Development Team is a high-performing discipline within the Planning and Development business unit, delivering projects through the entire lifecycle from land acquisition and planning support to design and scheme implementation. You will contribute to multi-disciplinary services including civil engineering, highways design, earthworks strategies, utilities and energy planning, drainage, flood risk and SuDS, site appraisal, due diligence, and strategic planning advice. Projects include prestigious developments such as HS2 Curzon Street Station (Birmingham), Eden Project North, Greenwich Peninsula, HS2 Old Oak Common Station (London), Aston Villa (Birmingham), and Bahrain International Sports City.
Your role will involve contributing to concept studies, strategies, and drawing packages leading to planning applications, technical approvals, and construction issues. You will work across various development projects and sectors, supported by the Basingstoke team to develop your technical skills and career progression. You will engage with clients, manage stakeholders, liaise with design teams, and ensure your tasks meet budget, programme, technical standards, and legal requirements.

Experience
Knowledge of highway design, drainage strategy and design, flood risk assessment and management, utility design and planning, and the Development Industry. Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings with supervision. Experience liaising with clients, co-professionals, design teams, and statutory authorities to negotiate technical approvals and statutory agreements. Awareness of legal processes, planning, design software, technical consents, adoption, and contract procedures related to sewers, SuDS, highways, and utilities for new developments and regeneration projects. Knowledge of financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering projects of various sizes.

Qualifications
Postgraduate (or equivalent) experience and working towards Chartered status or possessing equivalent experience and responsibility. Proficiency in relevant software including InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or PDS. Familiarity with design codes such as Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, and Local Authority Design Guidance.
