About the Role
At WSP, you will have the opportunity to work on landmark water engineering projects both in the UK and overseas, contributing to solutions that the world needs. As a Clean Water Process Engineer at Principal to Associate Director level, you will play a key role within multidisciplinary project design teams, delivering process engineering design content across a range of challenging water and water reuse projects. Your responsibilities will include producing process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, and basis of design reports to achieve optimum project solutions. You will undertake outline and detailed process engineering design, attend site visits for data acquisition, and engage with site operators. You will provide technical input to procurement processes, support Project Managers in client discussions, liaise with technology providers and vendors, and participate in HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, and SWIFT meetings. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and supervision to junior staff and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure integration of process engineering requirements into overall project designs. You will also contribute to proposals, work scopes, schedules, budgets, and maintain client liaison to ensure their needs are met. Experience
- Significant experience delivering process engineering design for infrastructure projects, including leading process engineering roles on projects or significant tasks.
- Proven expertise in the municipal water industry.
- Ability to work independently in preparing and reviewing process design deliverables such as technical specifications, calculations, reports, datasheets, schedules, process control philosophies, P&IDs, mass balances, and procurement documentation.
- Experience delivering optioneering studies, feasibility, concept, and detailed design for municipal clean water treatment solutions including Clarification (bottom hopper), DAF, Rapid Gravity Filtration, Disinfection, Taste & Odour/Pesticides Removal, and Chemical Dosing.
- Previous consultancy or engineering company experience acting as a Process Engineer.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven ability to prepare high-quality technical reports and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
- Confident and articulate communicator capable of engaging professionally with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary meetings and acting as the technical representative with external clients.
- Ability to work accurately and flexibly, integrating work across disciplines while managing own and team workloads within tight schedules and budgets.
- Willingness and ability to travel to operational works and construction sites, acting safely and assessing process performance.

Qualifications
- Degree or MSc in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
- Professional registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership within 12 months.
