Location: Milton Keynes (with occasional travel to Havering)
Contract Type: 12-Month Contract
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (Depending on Experience)

Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We’re on the lookout for a Construction Estimator to support the tendering and pre-construction phases of a range of dynamic and high-impact projects — spanning residential, commercial, public sector, and infrastructure sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and commercially savvy professional to bring their estimating expertise to a fast-paced environment where innovation and collaboration drive results.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates based on drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Developing tenders aligned with client briefs, budgets, and timelines.
- Sourcing and evaluating supplier/subcontractor quotes and negotiating for best value.
- Producing bills of quantities, take-offs, and scope breakdowns as needed.
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, and quantity surveyors to assess buildability and resource needs.
- Identifying project risks and opportunities to ensure strong commercial outcomes.
- Maintaining a current database of costs and supplier networks.
- Contributing to value engineering proposals and client meetings pre- and post-tender.
- Providing smooth handovers and ongoing support to delivery teams after contract award.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a construction estimating role, ideally with a main contractor or subcontractor.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
- Confident using estimating tools like Causeway, Conquest, Candy, or Excel-based models.
- Excellent numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Skilled at interpreting technical documents and drawings.
- Commercially astute with great communication and negotiation abilities.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tenders effectively.
Qualifications:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Working towards or holding membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB).
- CSCS card (desirable).
