Net Zero Careers Accelerator supports residents into skilled construction and building services roles that offer long term career progression. Plumbing plays a key role in delivering safe, efficient and sustainable buildings, and this traineeship supports learners to gain site experience while completing their NVQ Level 2.

This opportunity is based on a live construction site in Dagenham and is aimed at supporting progression or completion of an existing plumbing apprenticeship.

This role is ideal for someone with a basic plumbing qualification who wants hands on site experience to complete their NVQ Level 2. You will work alongside experienced plumbers, learning core installation skills while following site safety standards and building professional working habits.

*Must live in the London borough of Barking & Dagenham* (Required for this role due to Section 106 local employment criteria)

What you will do

• Work safely on site, following all health and safety requirements and RAMS
• Support plumbing installation works including cutting, bending and setting out pipework
• Use hand and power tools safely under supervision
• Assist with fault finding and basic fixes
• Load, move and organise materials
• Keep work areas clean, tidy and safe
• Take pride in the quality and presentation of completed work
• Look after materials and help minimise waste
• Work as part of a site team and follow instructions from supervisors

Essential
• Barking and Dagenham resident
• Minimum Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing
• Good practical skills
• Basic numeracy and literacy
• Physically fit and comfortable working on site
• Reliable, punctual and willing to learn

Desirable
• Previous construction site experience
• Knowledge of plumbing works
• Displaced apprentice looking to complete NVQ Level 2 within 6 months

• Pay: £12.21/hour (National Minimum Wage)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
• Location: Dagenham Green development site
• Start date: As soon as possible
• Duration: 6 months
