We are seeking a Consultant level environmental professional to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in the UK. Our exciting portfolio spans sectors such as onshore and offshore renewables, aviation, nuclear, and rail. We need people with a creative spirit, a dedicated approach, and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment and management at any stage of the development project lifecycle.

As one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP is involved in some of the most challenging and high-profile projects, from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team oversees and manages environmental inputs throughout project lifecycles, engaging early at concept and option stages to shape projects that respect sensitive environments and communities.

In this role, you will work closely with environmental specialists and other professionals to develop proposals that enhance the environment and communities, building in benefits such as improved habitats, cleaner air and water, lower carbon emissions, and overall environmental gain. You will also support design and construction teams to ensure commitments are met.

The role is suited to a proactive individual eager to use their initiative to progress their career. Typical activities include coordinating environmental assessments and EIA teams, developing innovative techniques including digital EIA, preparing compelling environmental statements and sustainable design reports, managing project bids, and applying business skills in time and budget management.

Requirements

Experience
- Degree level qualification in an environment-related area
- Professional membership to IEMA, IES, CIWEM or another relevant body
- Experience providing environmental support on energy projects, including EIA
- Sound knowledge of environmental issues and topics
- Grounding in the UK environmental and planning regime
- Experience in sectors such as energy, highways, rail, housing
- Experience liaising with cross-discipline teams, clients, and external organisations
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills

A proactive and enthusiastic individual who is keen to influence, manage and deliver environmental elements of engineering projects across multiple sectors. You are motivated to develop innovative approaches and work collaboratively within diverse teams to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications
Degree in an environment-related discipline and professional membership of a relevant body such as IEMA, IES or CIWEM are required. Demonstrable skills in environmental assessment, management, and project coordination are essential.
