About the Role
As a Face-to-Face (F2F) Fundraising Area Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of up to 8 membership fundraisers based primarily in the West Midlands and surrounding areas. Your leadership will be key to meeting ambitious fundraising targets while maintaining the highest standards of ethical fundraising. You will line manage your team, providing hands-on support, coaching, and motivation, often fundraising alongside them to lead by example. You will work closely with RSPB reserves in your geographical area and take the lead on National Shows at the NEC to maximise membership opportunities. This role requires regular travel across the West Midlands and wider Midlands area, with occasional national travel. A valid UK driving licence or a clear plan for travel across the region is essential. Weekend work is expected as a core part of the role to support your team effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, train and develop a high-performing team of fundraisers
- Foster a positive team culture and lead by example to achieve fundraising targets
- Monitor KPIs including membership volume, average donation amounts, Gift Aid uptake and attrition rates
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to improve team outcomes
- Manage day-to-day logistics ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations and alignment with RSPB values
- Build effective partnerships with key stakeholders including Reserve Managers to maximise membership opportunities
- Travel regularly across the region to support and manage your team
Experience
- Proven experience in face-to-face fundraising and managing high-performing teams
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop team members
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of ethical fundraising practices and relevant codes
- Experience with leadership frameworks such as SMART objectives, root cause analysis and situational leadership

- Familiarity with the RSPB's mission and values is highly desirable
- Willingness to travel regularly across the West Midlands and wider Midlands area, including weekends
Qualifications
- A valid UK driving licence or the ability to demonstrate how you will travel to all locations within the role’s area of responsibility
- Right to work in the UK is required as this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
