About the Role
Are you a RICS member looking to apply your professional expertise to make a real difference? Join the RSPB England Land Team as a Rural Surveyor, managing a specific portfolio of properties in the eastern counties and supporting wider departmental casework across England. You will be part of a team of 11 Rural Surveyors working collaboratively with building surveyors, Area Managers, and their teams to protect and enhance the RSPB estate. Your role will involve land and property management, reserve acquisition, disposal of surplus land and buildings, risk management, and project support. You will provide professional advice to staff, negotiate leases and licences, and help optimise financial returns for nature reserves. The role requires initiative, motivation, and the ability to spot income opportunities. Some site visits may require overnight stays away from home. RSPB supports maintaining your RICS qualification and CPD through in-house and external training.

Experience
- Chartered member of RICS (Rural) or equivalent professional organisation.
- Demonstrable post-qualification knowledge of estate management, land and property acquisition and disposal in a rural environment.

- Experience communicating complex estate management issues clearly to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to make pragmatic decisions based on sound analysis.
- Proven negotiation skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and prioritise competing objectives and work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness and ability to travel widely, including occasional overnight stays.

About you
You are self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic with a strong team ethos. You demonstrate initiative and flair in identifying income opportunities and managing risks. You communicate effectively and build credibility with colleagues and external partners. You are adaptable and able to work flexibly across a wide geographic area.

Qualifications
- Chartered membership of RICS (Rural) or equivalent professional qualification is essential.
- Knowledge of the Charities’ Act is desirable; guidance and learning opportunities will be provided.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to travel extensively within the region.
