About the Role
PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS TO START IN SEPTEMBER 2027. Cundall’s Air Quality team aims to create better environments by improving occupant exposure and ensuring positive effects on both external and internal environments. The team covers all aspects of air quality throughout the whole project lifecycle of a building, from pre-planning and detailed design to post-planning stages. Our integrated air quality services establish current and future ambient (outdoor) air quality impacts and exposure, specify and evaluate appropriate mitigation controls, and measure and manage indoor air quality to meet health and wellbeing requirements.
Joining our Air Quality team, you will work closely with other technical teams on multi-disciplinary projects, contributing to Cundall’s commitment to substantially reduce deaths and illnesses from air pollution by 2030. With 29 offices worldwide, we offer a proactive and collaborative approach to skill development, professional excellence, and knowledge sharing.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Air Quality Consultant to work on some of the most exciting construction projects in the UK and internationally. Under expert guidance, you will develop expertise in data analysis, air quality modelling, site-based monitoring, and design specifications. As your skills grow, you will liaise directly with colleagues, clients, and environmental regulators to acquire, collate, and analyse relevant data and produce high-quality reports, including air quality chapters of Environmental Statements.
Over time, you will assume greater responsibility and autonomy, supported by accredited professional development programmes from the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM), helping you progress towards Chartership (CEnv or CSci).
Experience
On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree. Some experience or knowledge of digital tools such as OpenAir, R, or Python for data interpretation and visualisation is desirable.
About you
You have a keen interest in developing expertise and a rewarding career in air quality within the built environment. You possess a passion for excellence in air quality design, a desire for personal and professional development, and the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team. You are organised and methodical in managing tasks and priorities, strive to meet deadlines, and understand the commercial factors affecting design solutions. Collaborative in nature, you empathise with clients’ needs and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders. You use your initiative to overcome challenges and maintain a positive, can-do attitude.
Qualifications
Accredited with or on course to achieve a BEng/MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, or another relevant discipline. Must have the right to work in the UK as sponsorship is not provided for this role.
